“ I've been ordering food from this spot for well over 10 years, and it's frankly a crime that I have not yet written a review for it. Maybe it's because this joint is just so solid, friendly, and consistent that I forget it's not just an extension of my own kitchen. Another failure I am forced to admit: I can only review two items on the menu, because that's all I have ever ordered. General Tso's Tofu is two meal's worth of big chewy chunks of fried tofu drenched in a thick, spicy-sweet sauce. There are some scallions in there and just enough broccoli to convince me I've managed to eat a vegetable today. Fried Vegetable Dumplings - pretty much exactly what you'd expect here, but absolutely delicious. The dipping sauce that comes with these is crave-worthy. I'm not kidding when I say that the food here is almost eerily consistent. It's always exactly the same, always steaming hot, and always affordable. If you are in the hood and craving some classic NYC Chinese food, definitely stop by. ”

This is standard American Chinese food, nothing extraordinary, but I like the food, it's reasonably priced, and always super fast. The owner and other staff are always friendly, and they're very kind and hard working. I'm grateful for this restaurant and happy to support them. ”

For me, the biggest draw of Mr. Tong is that you can order many specialty dishes in pint sizes. PINT-SIZED LOVE. The funny thing is that these pint sizes are actually pretty big.* And because of the money I'm saving, I like to treat myself with another pint-sized order of something. In the end, I'm not saving anything but it FEELS like it. That's the genius of offering cheap dishes. You just spend to the last dime for all the hard times.** The sesame chicken is my favorite, and I like to pair it with vegetable or chicken lo mein. Their noodles are delicious and, bonus, they heat up well. The service is SUPER speedy. Delivery is there before you hang up the phone. And take-out is just as fast. The quality of food remains perty darn good for Chinese fast food. It's all luck if you'll get fortune cookies or not. Sometimes I get a handful, and other times, none at all.
